You will begin with a 2-hour session, the
Traditional Diagnosis, where I will get to know about you and your life, your
medical history and the reasons you are seeking treatment, followed by a
brief physical exam. You are free to ask as many questions as you need.
HIPPA laws (and our Code of Ethics) require that all information
you share be held as strictly confidential. In the privacy of my office,
you can be sure that nothing you say will be shared outside of that room
without your express permission.
Subsequent visits take about an hour and will consist of a brief
catch-up on your life since your last session followed by a treatment
with needles.
Clients say my office is warm and inviting. It is filled with lots of
natural light. You will be very comfortable on my treatment table with
soft music playing if you like and the comfort and warmth of the
BioMats far infrared light, negative ion and amethyst therapy. (see
BioMat). You may rest on the table for up to 40
minutes while the needles are in or after needles have been removed
either way, the treatment continues to work in you over the course of
the day or week.
You will come in once per week for 6-8 weeks at which time we may
consider spacing out your treatments to greater and greater intervals.
Eventually, you may come in only for seasonal tune-ups, or more
frequently if necessary.
Acupuncture needles are tools for encouraging, directing, enhancing,
and calming the Qi (chee), or life force, which courses through pathways
or meridians in the body. I also use an herb, called mugwort or
artemesias vulgaris, which I burn on the acupuncture points to create
warmth and send healing energy through the meridians. This process is
called moxibustion.
