The park's expansion is one of the largest in the resort's history.
The concrete forms for Piston Peak National Park are prominently displayed in the center of the aerial photo. The park's design incorporates an off-roading experience, inspired by a research trip to Arizona and a dirt track for racing. The area is adjacent to Tiana's Bayou Adventure and Big Thunder Mountain.
Behind the Haunted Mansion's crypt-themed queue, land is being cleared. Disney has filed permits for the Haunted Mansion attraction, with MLC Theming as the contractor. The permit details general construction and set installation by Mecca Productions.

Villains Land is in the early stages of preparation. The dark, boomerang-shaped area indicates the future land's location, with a large construction staging area nearby. The clearing extends to the back of 'it's a small world'. Limited details are available, but it will feature two major attractions, shopping, and dining, with Disney animator Andreas Deja providing consultation.
Disney has released inspirational architecture and a list of villains, including Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove, for the land. The concept art draws inspiration from Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent, with a focus on their dragon form. Big Thunder Mountain's refurbishment includes new ride vehicles, Audio-Animatronics figures, and interactive effects, with an updated opening scene featuring transformed Rainbow Caverns.
