Hold onto your hats, hockey fans, because a rare college hockey fight just erupted, and it involved a Chicago Blackhawks prospect! This unexpected bout has everyone talking, and it's a perfect example of how quickly things can change on the ice.
The main players in this story are Sacha Boisvert, a sophomore forward for Boston University and a Blackhawks prospect, and Connor Eddy, a senior from UMass Lowell. Boisvert, known for his boxing background (a fact that has been widely reported), decided to show off his skills in a way few expected – by dropping the gloves during a game.
And this is the part most people miss...
The fight itself was a whirlwind of punches, with both players going at it hammer and tongs. Even with officials trying to break it up, the intensity was so high that the players kept swinging.
Now, here’s where things get interesting. In college hockey, fighting is a big no-no. It leads to a five-minute major penalty, an immediate ejection from the game, and, most importantly, an automatic suspension for the next game. Both Boisvert and Eddy were sidelined for the following game as a direct result of their actions.
Boston University's coach, Jay Pandolfo, was understandably tight-lipped about the situation during the post-game press conference. He mentioned they were waiting to see if Hockey East would hand down any further discipline.
But here's where it gets controversial...
